Kentucky Butter Cake
- Preparation of the cake:
- Preheat your oven to 160°C (325°F) and butter a bundt pan (or a cake pan).
- In a large bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, and baking soda.
- Add the butter, buttermilk, eggs and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Beat on medium speed until the batter is smooth and well combined.
- Cooking :
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
- Bake for 60 to 70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before turning it out onto a wire rack.
- Buttercream Frosting Preparation:
- While the cake is cooling, prepare the frosting. In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add the sugar and water, and stir until the sugar is dissolved.
- Remove from heat and add vanilla extract.
- Cake frosting:
- Poke several holes in the surface of the still-warm cake with a toothpick or skewer.
- Slowly pour the buttercream frosting over the cake, letting the frosting soak into the holes for maximum flavor.
- Rest :
- Let the cake absorb the frosting for at least 30 minutes before serving.
- Serve the cake at room temperature, alone or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for even more indulgence.
Kentucky Butter Cake is a rich and moist dessert with a dense texture and an irresistible buttery flavor. Enjoy!
